Meet Rob St. Clair

Insert Picture here     Rob St. Clair received his B.A. degree from Ohio Northern University and his J.D. degree from Ohio Northern University College of Law. His professional memberships include: National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, American Bar Association, Ohio State Bar Association, sustaining member (Elder Law Committee; Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law Section); Columbus Bar Association, sustaining member (Probate Court Committee; Trust and Estate Planning Committee; Elder Law Committee); Columbus Bar Foundation (Fellow).

     With more than 30 years of experience, St. Clair practices in the areas of probate and elder law, including customized estate planning and related tax issues, wills, trusts, special needs trusts, asset protection planning, durable powers of attorney, advance directives including living will declarations, durable powers of attorney for health care and mental health directives, retirement and long-term care planning and problem solving, Medicare and Medicaid eligibility, guardianships, and estate administration. St. Clair is a frequent speaker for many professional and civic organizations on estate planning, probate and elder law related topics.

     In addition to his private practice, since 1984 St. Clair has served as a hearing officer for the Ohio Department of Education. He is appointed as an Impartial Hearing Officer (IHO) for cases involving children with learning disabilities. He also hears cases state-wide that deal with teacher misconduct, land transfers between school districts, community or charter school issues, certification of religious schools, and the permanent exclusion of students from Ohio's public schools. St. Clair frequently is appointed by local school districts to serve as a hearing officer for student expulsion appeals.

     St. Clair is a retired colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve (1968-1996) and is a Vietnam War veteran.
